  1. Skimmers

I know there are many of these so I will not ask about names. What I would like to know is what do you have on your big tanks and why? If yours would take a header would you replace it with the same thing if it still available?

    Thanks

  2. A rookie for ever!!!

I have been doing this for 4 years and as a know it all paid the price many times. To the newbie on this hobbie/job/life/investment/bankaccount i say to you...Dont be cheap or you will pay more later. Be patient or you will go crazy and be patient on a later time, Listen to others but dont listen too much because you will always have bad info out there. 3. So long halides

Well I decided I just was sick of having a tank that could be seen from space. The 2 250s I had over my 75 were (to me) just too much light. So I picked up a T5 setup and I love it.
Sure theres no shimmer,, but theres also no crazy heat issues or blinding lights..also the fixture is all in one so no ballasts and alot fewer cords and timers.
I was having to run T5 actinics anyway to get the colors I wanted so I just through another 2 bulbs in there.
After 3 days all the corals (even ...

  4. Ehiem 1262

I picked up a used RS-180 today with an Ehiem 1262 pump on it, and it appears that the pump might be bad. I only paid $100 for skimmer and pump so not too upset but hoping it can be fixed. It pumps but not strong enough water will not rise fully up the skimmer body. It only goes to the gate valve adjustment tube. It does not flow out the top of the gate valve with the neck removed and valve opened or closed. Any thoughts?

  5. My new tank.

This is my first blog post ever...I have really enjoyed reading and following along with all of your posts, so I figured now would be a good time to start my own...

I am sooo excited to finally move up to a little larger tank! I recently purchased a 58 gallon oceanic with center overflow, along with a 15 gallon sump. This is a pic of it running before I bought it. It's less than 3 years old and in really good condition.
