I think you must have the most intestinal fortitude of anyone in the hobby. All the best!

Might at least be worth a call if you haven't ordered already. They may be able to expedite it for you. Either way I am sure you will have fun building the new setup. That is my favorite part of this hobby!

Hey Marc! Really sorry to hear about your tank! I am not sure if you have ordered a new one yet or not, but John at Kingfish told me yesterday that he would be happy to help you out with an AGE tank. It might be worth a call. Let me know if you need his number. Hopefully you will be back on your feet again soon. I can't imagine the stress and heartache.

Hey Marc, I am currently planning on buidling a sump out of a 10gal tank for my 45gal corner tank. The 10 gal just barely fits now that I cut the stand slightly. I was planning on using your 29 gal sump design. Any advice or changes to the design would be great.

Hey Marc, what happened to the article you wrote about using lye to remove majano? The link just goes to a blank page.

Lol... Sorry, I had the link to it and forgot to put it. My wife and I believes we are going with T5 HO light strip that goes on top of tank with brackets. While researching I've found that the T5 HO's are better for the corals than a VHO system. What do you think? I was going to put them on this Friday. I'm not putting anything in tank till this coming weekend. I put the sand in already though, that's it though. I'm also going to add another 20 pounds of sand before the weekend. I love the setup! The water is so clear it looks like no water is in the tank...awesome. I took readings and they are better than the readings of my old tank. When the lights are on I will post all the pics. ;-)

Hey Marc, can I use this ballast to run 2 of my bulbs? I have a total of 4 bulbs but have 2 ballast which runs 2 bulbs. So all I need is ballast for 2 and I think this will work. I would néed to hook up power cord though, that's simple right?

Long overdue.

by melev on 05-13-2018 at 03:19 PM
It's been a long time since I posted here on RA, mainly because my focus has been on Melev's Reef. Still, RA is dear to my heart due to all the information that has been stored here over the years, documenting my 400g build and all the discussions we had when blogging wasn't even cool yet.

The 400g is currently 4.5 years old, and doing great. Here's a recent picture.

And the Anemone Cube, which is now being lit with a Radion

Day 1247: Three years, 5 months

by melev on 04-10-2017 at 03:23 AM
If you follow my youtube channel, you've probably heard how I have to get my arms wet and really cull the 400g reef because the growth at the top is shadowing everything beneath, and those things beneath have little chance of living. I hate to have to rip out these big colonies, but there's no choice. Here are a bunch of pictures of the tank today. I've also included some images of the Anemone Cube.

Biggest thing to happen recently was an alkalinity dip. When I see some coral turn

Not what I would do

by melev on 11-06-2016 at 12:52 AM
Had a surprise guest tonight. I was working on something and he and his wife showed up at my door to visit. My tanks were all less than stellar because I haven't cleaned the glass lately, and it occurred to him that he could try using his iPhone 7 Plus to take some underwater pictures. My frag tank is low enough for an easy test. So here are three he shared.

I bought myself this bandsaw over two years ago at the Denver MACNA. It was basically a gift to myself, but I never opened the box until two weeks ago when I started fragging some corals at last. It's pretty impressive, and hence I had to make a video about it.
