There are three MP40w's and a MP20 on the back. Plus the returns. But it doesn't look like a ton of flow since I have a lot of SPS in that upper section. I'll see if I can make one in the near future though.

if you had one every 2' along the tank. i would also make sure they are under the top frame. another thing i've done is wrap the stand in 3/4 plywood. i build steps at work out of just 3/4 plywood and some of the guys are 300 lbs with no problem. if you don't work with wood every day, get a miter saw for your cuts. screw and glue all joints. other than that it should only take a couple of hours to build and level, then wrap the stand right to the floor after you shim it.

Stand update

by cdmorrison01 on 05-20-2010 at 12:05 AM
Sry for the poor pic quality. Cell phone pictures are always terrible, but better than nothing. I still have some work to do on the stand, I have to add a center brace to the front and back as well as wrap the stand and finish it. More pics to come.

Here are a couple more shots of wrapping/finishing the stand. The only thing I have left is cutting the doors and placing the 3/4" piece on top. Can't wait!

Another stand question

by cdmorrison01 on 05-17-2010 at 09:47 PM
Ok. I'm in the middle of building my stand for the 200g DD. Am I crazy of is 43" way too tall for the stand height? I would like to make it so people don't have to bend down too far to see the sand bed action, at the same time I want a sturdy stand. Let me know what you think! Thanks. No pics yet. I will try to get some up asap!

Marineland 200 DD

by cdmorrison01 on 05-03-2010 at 12:19 PM
Ok guys/gals,
I am upgrading from a 55g to a 200g DD. The tanks measures 48Lx36Dx27T. I got the tank at a good price and can't wait to set it up. I am trying to do as much stuff DIY as possible to save money. I am thinking about building my own stand but I am a little nervous cause this baby is going to be >2000lbs. Does anyone have suggestions or know of good sites that has some articles on DIY stands? Would 2x4 only be enough support? ANY advice would be greatly appreciated! Also,

Looking to upgrade tanks

by cdmorrison01 on 03-04-2010 at 04:00 PM
I am going to upgrade tanks and have been reading articles about glass vs acrylic. I was wondering if anyone had horror stories about acrylic. Basically, I have read up on the subject, but I am looking for user reviews from a trusted source. Any advice will be great!

I am curious to know if anyone else uses this product and if so, what kind of results are you seeing? Basically, the company info sounds promising but I want to know if it is a rip off. Thanks!
