Opinons on skimmer

Rate this Entry
Hi everyone. I have had a 55 gallon tank set up for about nine months now and am looking for advise on what type of skimmer to buy. Eventually(not anytime soon) I will be upgrading so I want a skimmer able to pump about 200-300 gallons. Also, I plan on getting the swabbie from Avast Marine so I'm looking to buy one of those. Here is the link to that page.http://www.avastmarine.com/ssc/do/pr...immers/SWABBIE Thanks all! Oh and I will be uploading some pics of my tank when I get the chace.

I have a 55 gallon display tank with a 30g sump/fuge tied in and I just upgraded to the Reef Octopus NWB-150 6" Skimmer. This thing is an absolute monster and pulls gunk out of my tank that I didnt even think was possible. And it fits underneath my standard AGA stand with lots of room to remove the cup. Did I mention its only $200?

EDIT: Also I just looked on AVAST's site and they make Swabbie's that are sized for this model line. So you're totally set to go!

i agree with the red octopus skimmer. i had another big name skimmer in my sump for over a year, and never had much output. i just thought i had a light bio load, until i bought the red octopus. in the first 24 hours it put out as much skimmate as my other skimmer would in 1-2 weeks. totally amazing difference.
