Good Day all
First let me say a Huge thank you to Marc for the dedication he has given to this hobby as it has inspired me to finally get to this point. FYI I know full well and I am sure Marc will be one of the first to point out that he is just one of many out there giving back to this hobby. Although for me he seems to have been at the center of saltwater info.
A quick background for me is that I started with a fresh water tank (30gal) for Oscars in 99 and then upgraded in 2002 to a 108gal Hagen tank. Since then I have moved and the Oscars are no more but I kept the tank and have it now built in the wall with a support room behind it about 8x8 it is currently home for about 20 cichlids and a few other fish. Since mid to late 2008 I have been doing research on marine tanks and when I started to learn about sumps is when I found Marc. I quickly became one of the ones eating up his band with reading over everything on his site. Since then I have tagged along with reef-cast and now with reef addicts.
During that time I had planned to basically copy the 30gal build Evan and Marc had done but as most of us do I got impatient and had some money saved up just burning in my pocket and spotted a 12gal Nano-Cube for sale in my area.

It was a fully cycled with one clown but lacked some rock as it only had about 2lbs in it so off I went to my LFS and picked up about 7 more pounds of rock and a box of salt. The green cylinder you see in the corner is a filter that to owner had running so for now I have left it and hooked the internal pump back up in the back to provide more circulation. In the next few months I hope to add the following: 1. about 5lbs more of rock
2. a maix jet 900
3. a hydor flow rotating deflector http://www.hydor.com/prodotti/list/cat/5/list/5
4. a watchman goby and ship
5. some zoo’s and mushrooms
6. maybe a 6line wrasse
In the spring or fall I was hoping to upgrade my current 108 to the Marineland DD 250gal as it is basically the same dimensions of my 108 just deeper and then start saving to change it over to a reef tank, well that’s the dream anyway. So here I am now with my preverbal toes in the water just waiting to take the plunge. In the mean time I am planning to get this 12gal running smooth and create some eye candy with it for my wife, with the hopes that she will grow to love the hobby too. Any who that’s me and here I am finally. If anyone has suggestions I am open to hear them.
