New Reefscape

Rating: 2 votes, 5.00 average.
OK as of next month my reef will be four years old. So a few corals have grown somewhat large for my little 65 gallon. So I decided it was time to re-reefscape my tank. On the old reefscape I had a large monti-cap in the front center of the tank. Durning the re-reefscape I was lifting it out of the tank and .... oh yea murphy's law struck. The live rock broke and the monti-cap dropped straight to the floor. Shattered into a thousand frags ! This coral was causing an eye sore on the front glass. Due to the fact I couldn't clean the coraline algae off the front glass because it was in the way. I'm still in the process of cleaning the back glass, this hasn't been scraped in about two years.

Let me know what you think.

WOW WOW WOW what A big change! Looks like you thinned out the herd of acros too? It looks like this will grow in amazingly! I love the lone bonsai look of the acro on the right. This is nice.

Thanks everyone ! Yes I thinned out quite a few acros that where just not doing so good. Also making so more room for so newer acans and acros I will be looking for this weekend at RAP. As you might have guessed, I'm a big fan of a barebottom system. Though I very very tempted to throw some sand in there ... Just a SSB.

Yeah, before it looked like a row of corn or something, now it looks like a sweet set of bommies.

It definitely looks much better. The fish have room to swim.

I really like it, looks alot better. I'm thinking of going with 2 large islands like that with maybe a small island in the center towards the front when I get water in my tank, you've given me a good visual of what I can shoot for, thanks.

Thanks again everybody ! I till have to glue some more corals to the rock. The epoxy I used made my skimmer go nuts, so I have to go slow.

@marc, yes the fish seem happier now. I also had to turn down my mp40. I had so much live rock in the tank before that it hindered the water flow so much the vortechs had to be set at 100%. Now with the rock work so wide open, I run the mp40 at around 60%.

Anyway, the redesign looks most fantastic! Impressive even!

Great to see you again this trip. You picked out some great coral choices - all the kinds I would get.

    I picked up a 400w 20,000K XM as well.
