I believe you need more overflow. I can't wait till you start this build; going to be nice. ;-)

The left thing on the back corner is the overflow. There actually has been a lot of discussion lately about doubling its size to 4ft wide, or creating two overflows of 2ft each.

I didn't make the drawing, someone else did for me. I'm not actually sure what it was made in, sorry. I can find out though if you want.

I'm bad at getting my thoughts together in one post this morning, sorry.

This tank will be around the 450g mark, the system will be in and around the 1000g area. I can't accomodate a coast to coast overflow due to the configuration of the tank room, and the fact that I'm short (5'3") and can't make it over an overflow + eurobracing to work on the inside of the tank. I also want to be able to look in the tank from the back for the peace of mind.

You definitely want a much longer overflow to keep the surface clean. 4' is a minimum. The tank is 10' long. Mine is 7' long and my overflow is 36" long at the far end, but my returns will push the surface toward the overflow.

I think I'm leaning towards having a 4ft overflow. We actually settled on a builder today and are just working out the final small details; approximate time frames, how payment will work, etc. I'm going to ask about widening the overflow, and potentially having slots made so I can be like Wilson (I think thats who it was) and have a couple of different combs/teeth sizes made.

I admit to bribing my other half to do errands and the nasty home repair jobs with tools, so I figure making teeth for the tank should be one of his first projects.
