Papua New Guinea is known for its unique diversity from both its coral reefs, its people and cultures. There is no other better time to see this but September 16th when the country celebrates its independence with traditional singing and dancing. What a time for a "PNG EXPERIENCE!" to the tourists and outsiders. This year the country saw its 35th year of independence. A day when PNGeans highlight their beautiful bilas, colors and the uniqueness of their people, both young and old, bringing out the extraordinary diversity of Papua New Guinea. A countrywide celebration of beautifully painted faces, stunning headdresses, colorful traditional costumes and an array of tumbuna song and dance; each representing and telling a legendary story as each step, twist and jump has its own significance and value.
