Current tanks
120 gallon reef ready half circle - contents of tank mixed reef/fish/live rock
55 gallon reef ready - contents of tank mixed reef/fish/live rock
Upgrading both tanks into the brand new Marineland 265 gallon reef ready tank with the monterey stand in black. This is going to be a long drawn out blog, im warning you now lol.
So where I have my new tank in place sits on slab, so im lucky I do not need to support anything from underneath, which is great but I will be running the filtration which will consist of a 150 gallon rubbermaid stock tank in my basement, so i used a jack hammer to bang out a nice clean 12" high by 3" wide opening through a cement wall that separated my room on slab to the next room where I drilled 3 holes 2 2inch holes for the drains, and 1 inch & 1/2 hole for the return, next will be roughing the plumbing from the basement to the tank. Once the roughing is in place I will put the tank on the stand and start to work on more detailed plumbing like the return pump which i am not purchasing till i figure how exactly how much head, and if I will run a manifold off it as well. I definitly plan on running all for 1" holes inside the corner flo's as drains, yes thats right all 4 holes as drains, I'm looking for plenty of turn over. I then will pump the water back up over the top of the tank, most likely through 2 1"inch sea swirls, unless ecotech unveils a similiar sea swirl type product at MACNA , and plan on using 2 MP40EWS on both ends of the tank. I have alot of work ahead of me, this is my first ever upgrade, where im moving from 1 tank, well 2 tanks, to another so it should be a challenge for me. I'll post picks once I get more the roughing in.
