My current system is a 180 gallon mixed reef. The current system has been up for since November 2008. This is my first reef tank and I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge since I have set this system up. My local reef club has initiated a breeders challenge, which has prompted me to add a breeding system into my set up. The breeding system still doesn't have water. I should have the entire system up and running in about a week.

Lighting:
- Reef: 3 - 250w Metal Halide Lamps (14K bulbs), 2 - 4 ft T5 Actinic
- Breeding: Florescent Shop Lighting

Filtration:
- Protein Skimmer: ASM G-6
- TLF Phosban Reactor
- Homemade PVC carbon filter
- Coralife 18v Turbo Twist UV Sterilizer
- 5 gal Remote Deep Sand Bed

Calcium and Alk Supplementation
- I currently top off with kalk. I used a simple dosing system with a Kent 5 gal Aqua-doser
- I also manually dose Magnesium as needed

Powerheads:
- 2 Vortec MP20s
- 1 Koralia 4

Sumps:
- 110 gal Feed Tank
- 55 gallon cryptic sump
- 55 gallon refugium

Other:
- 65 gallon salt water storage and mixing tank
- 24 GPD RODI unit


Livestock:
- Pair of Tomato Clowns (Currently in reef, will move to breeding set once filled with water)
- Pair of Darwin Black Ocellaris Clowns (Currently in reef, will move to breeding set once filled with water)
- Chocolate Tang
- Clown Tang
- Scopas Tang
- Algae Blenny
- Male and Female Pink Spot Anthias
- Various inverts make up the clean up crew including (cerith snails and blue leg hermit crabs)
- Various SPS (Mostly Acropora and Montipora, some Montipora), Various zooanthids, Hammer coral and frogspawn

    Thanks for sharing your current system with us Addicts. You have lots of room compared to most. What do you plan to breed?

    No problem glad to share. It is nice luxury to have a basement here in Michigan. The entire system is housed in the basement. To start I am going to start with the pairs of Darwin Black Ocellaris and Tomato Clowns that I have in my reef. In the other two tanks, I am going to have a small shoal (approx. 5) of Banggai's and a similar size shoal of Threadfin Cardinals. We will see how that goes and I might change or add some additional species at some point

    With the Banggai's, you may discover it is best to have separate tanks for all the males, and move the female from one to the next. That way each male can have a turn at carrying a mouth brood and a break to rebuild his fat stores until she comes around again. An Diadema urchin for the fry is ideal, which you can buy; or you can make one out of putty and toothpicks / zipties.

    Thanks Marc! I definately plan on making a putty urchin. I am hoping that with the shoal that it will be easier to initially sex the fish and hopefully there will be more than one male
