I have a eshopps PSK-300 protien skimmer. it does not seem to put out the skimmage that I have seen a lot of you folks talk about. I originally thought it would be great because it has two pumps. if one when out it would still work till I got a replacement. However I discovered it takes both to work properly. here is a picture of it.
any advise on what skimmer I should use or a way to make this one work better would be great. my tank is 240 gallons and the sump is about 88 gallons.

    What exactly are you expecting it to pull out (skim) versus what it actually is? Also how stocked is your tank? Can't pull out what isn't there.

    Did you follow the manufacturers spec on the recommended height of the water in your skimmer section for this skimmer? Need a bit more info.

    That is a very good question. I am just trying to get the most cleaning out of my skimming as possible. I did follow the manufacturers recomendations of 8 inches of depth. here are some pictures of my tank that show the stocking levels. well I was going to put some pics of my tank but it wants a url for my pictures and they are only on my hard drive.
    my tank is not stocked heavy at all.

    I do not see a way to edit the original post I can edit the comments but not the original post. I can put in pictures in an original post but not in the comments, I dont know why it is setup this way.

    Hey Steve, bring up you post then put your mouse cursor close to title. You will see like a pencil to the right of title click that and you will be able to edit and add pics. ;-)

    ok thanks, that worked. but they are added twice. hmm oh well. you get the idea.

    ok So this skimmer is having issues with the crappy pumps it comes with. so time for a new skimmer.
    So what is the census on the best brand and model of skimmer for my 240 with 88 gallon sump? I estimate I am displacing about 40 gallons with my sand and rock so that would be about 288 gallons.
