Starting over with my tank!

My 75g RR build/Update/Clowns

Rate this Entry
Woke up this morning to a spitting noise coming from downstairs. I know what it was, water level low, again! I could see bare glass also. A powerhead fell and was blowing in the sand. One of my Acro frags was now sitting on the glass. I had to fix that problem. Since the upgrade and now the use of a sump, I've been having to add water every two days. I believe I'm going to raise the water line today because we are going to Dallas for the weekend. I can raise the water line in the sump four inches safely. If we had a loss of power the aimp wouldn't overflow.

I also purchases two clowns last week. The had a pretty good selection of clowns to chose from too! I had all intent to get some maroon clowns a had seen a few weekends in a row but wanted to wIt a few more weeks for my tank to mature. Well, when I went to the store to make the purchase they only had one maroon clown. This was okay because since they had a great selection of clowns I could check out how they all acted to me putting my face up to the glass. (reason: eye problem)

I found that the Clarkii Clowns did not even get bothered by me cleaning the glass with my nose! ;-). So I bought a mated pair that was in the tank. Clarkii Clowns can eat, very hardy fish! They do at times get a little scared when I do maintenace inside the tan though. But right after they come out again to see me. Again, when I look into my tank with my nose touching the glass, they normally come right up to the glSs to see me. ;-). I will post pics later today.

How about a FTS with those clowns!!

Suction cups don't hold powerheads well, long term. I would find a way to secure the cord so if they let go, the powerhead can't drop. Or you might want to purchase some Sure Grip powerhead magnets. They fit a variety of pumps, and won't let go -- keeping your sandbed safe.

Or you could fork out the money for the Vortechs which I really love and can't wait to get a second one. Even one in my 135 with two korala's is providing ample flow, I just want to have a full wave action going.

Hey Yiyi, I will have a FTS up shortly my friend. Yeah, Marc and Midnight I'm hopefully getting some more Koralia's soon. I have one Koralia 2 now and I want three more. Then I will keep the three other old ones for other things. ;-) Vortechs are definitly not in my budget. ;-p

Korallia pumps don't last long, seemingly replaced annually for various reasons. They are cheaper, but long term are they really? You may be able to find some used Vortechs or Tunzes, which are preferred for a reason.

I seen some Vortech or Tunzes for nano that I believe had the same dimentions as Koralias or close to it. I was going to do some more researce on them and see what flow they have. They may work better than the Koralia 2's do and if so I will get them. They are like double the price but that's not to bad. I may check for used ones also but if the ones I seen will work I would rather buy new. When I'm ready I may check here or with the club and see if anyone has some for sale, I would trust that.

The Mp10 is a good one that is affordable. They were recently on sale too on Marine Depot.

Updated with some pics! Marc, I believe thats the ones I was looking at and probably at Marine Depot. I will have to go and check them out again. I'll pay double the price, thats not bad for quaility.

I don't think thats what I was looking at, ill have to find it and post the site so y'all can look at it and tell me what ya think. On Marine Depot the sale price for a mp 10 was like 180.00. NOT! I just can't afford that right now. Wish I could but I can't!
