Freshly Caught Seafood For My Tank

Rate this Entry
I think it is ok but it is better to be safe than sorry. I caught some silversides at the beach the other day when catching bait to go fishing . After another unsuccessful day of fishing I released the live ones and took a couple of the dead ones home. I quickly washed them off in fresh water and put them in the freezer. Do you think i could feed them to My anemone to vary his diet a little, or do you think it would be safer to avoid freshly caught from the beach? Just curious what you guys thought.

Were do you live? Could these be silversides that have been affected by the oil spill? Normally, I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

Once frozen, cut them up into bite sized pieces, roughly the size of a lima bean. Feed one to your anemone every three days - you should not see your anemone poop ever, that is simply excess food that it couldn't consume.

No not effected by the oil spill; at least not untill it reaches the gulf stream. I fed him and it has seems to be doing good. Hopefully he liked his change of diet.
