All,
If you own a Solaris LED Light System, you either have experienced Power Supply Failure, or its a matter of time before you do.
I have a 72" Solaris that was being thrown away because the owner said it did not work. I'm a crafty individual and could not pass up the opportunity of taking a swing at fixing it myself.
Day two of owning my new lighting system, I determined that 2 of the 3 power supplies worked and all LED arrays working. That left me with one power supply that was in need of repair/replacement. Most everyone knows this is a problem because PFO is out of business and had poor customer support from the beginning. (IMHO)
Being an aircraft technician, I know some real electrical genius's and within a couple days I found solutions to the power supply issue. Immediately one of my Avionics buddies said, "man that looks like a ATX Power Supply". So I started to doing some research.
I found this forum post: http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/di...aris-leds.html
Which led me down this rabbit trail and eventually landed here: http://jeffreysview.wordpress.com/20...-talking-reef/
There are options out there for repairing/replacing the power supplies. Just thought I would share a couple I found. I am sure there are more people out there in the same boat as me. The internet is full of people replacing the Solaris units and selling cheap.
