12 Hour Plumbing Session for my New 300 Gallon Custom & Work Sink!!!

Rate this Entry
Howdy Everyone,

I just thought I would post another update for my new setup! This is part 1 of 2 for plumbing! I do not think the next session will take 12 hours, but you never know!

I also want to thank my good friend Ryan Vickers, Owner of Aquatic Dreams - http://www.aquaticdreamer.com/ - The only LFS I use. Ryan is mastermind behind all of this! (Or at least that is what I tell my wife!) He is more than some guy that owns a LFS he is a down to earth honest man with an incredible since of work ethic and eye for detail! He has sacrifice countless hours with me planning and preparing for my crazy projects. Not to mention he sacrificed is entire Saturday working on this setup with me. In his previous life he must have been a plumber, because he has mad skills with the pipe. What I love about working with Ryan is that no detail goes overlooked (Note all of the valves and unions for quick changes of pumps and equipment with out a mess). He is my mentor and friend! (Ryan is the guy in blue)

I have posted pictures of the following: My Tank, My Sump/Refugium, Pumps, Plumbing, Closed Loop, Mechcanical Room, and Working Sink with Water Treatment Systems.

Stay tuned for Plumbing Part 2 - The fine details!

Until Next Time,

Adios, -Jake

No Comments.... Must have done a bad job!

It looks like all the plumbing was dry-fit together rather than glued. Is that the case?

Perhaps the reason you didn't get any replies is because you posted thumbnails. I find that posting a picture that is 640x480 or 770x512 is usually best, and allows people to see what you are sharing as they read the captions entered.

Mark, help me better understand what you are saying. I uploaded all of these photo which you can click on and see a HI RES photo of. Are you saying that you cannot see the HI RES by click on the individual photos? Or are you saying that I should avoid using thumbnails all together?

To answer your question the plumbing under the tank is glued as well as the closed loop and return pumps, but the drains are dry fitted. I left them dry fitted so that I could better place my filter socks & hangers after they deliver tomorrow. I was very careful with the glue and my OCD forced me to turn all glued pipe so that the words on it cannot be seen! I know you are the sump master, I would appreciate feed back or input. Thanks for you help again and this awesome site.

Well, I don't know about everyone else, but to have to click on 26 images to see them is something I won't do personally. I may pick one or two to do so, if I have the time. However, if they are already there at a viewable size and I'm scrolling down, this method works well for me. (It isn't all about me, no matter how you read this - LOL) Maybe all these thumbnails are good for cellphone browsers though. /shrug

The sump itself seems to have too small a return section. What is the zone right after the refugium? Is that the skimmer section, and where you will be putting filter socks?
