Wow, It's been a while!

The last time I posted on this site was 6 years ago. Seems so much longer, but I guess with 3 moves around Texas in that time, it would seem longer. I went from Georgetown Tx, to San Antonio Tx, to Arlington, TX, back to where I am now, New Braunfels, Tx. Lots of time spent up and down the I-35 corridor! Anyways in that time I have gone through several tanks and none have survived the moves. I ended up selling livestock and tanks, but for the last 2 years I have had a 20 gallon long going. Well limping along, since I have neglected it the last year or so. We have a house now, so the chances of moving so regularly now are pretty slim, but my job keeps me seriously busy during certain parts of the year and when I get home the last thing I want to do is mess with a tank. But I have decided I want to clean up my tank that has been limping along and so I went searching for picture motivation of similar 20 long tanks, and then started thinking about some of my old tanks, so I googled a few forum screen names that I have used and up popped Melev's site, with my blog of the 5.5g pico. It brought back memories and a renewed love to get my tank back in shape. Currently I can't remember the last water change that was done, and one circulation pump has gone out along with the DIY HOB refugium, and there is red slime algae everywhere! Somehow my snails, those little white starfish seem to be multiplying and my one fish have managed to survive. The look of the tank is rather embarrassing, but I'm ready for the fight! Today I went out and bought a new pump (Hydor look alike), lights (Current USA Orbit Marine LED), a skimmer (AquaMaxx HOB-1), chemi-pure, and some salt. The fight starts tonight! I'll start with a good old equipment cleaning, and then a nice water change, to help vacuum out the unsightly red algae! Hopefully I can be diligent enough to take pics of the journey, at least a weekly photo with my progress.
Anyway, It's good to be back and hopefully along the way I can help someone with their reef tank.
