pink bird nest rtn

Rate this Entry
So I came home after work yesterday to find my perfectly fine bird nest in rtn mode. It's the size of a soccer ball. Today it looks like the progression has slowed or stopped but its probably 50% affected. My fear is that the other corals will get some kind of death signal and follow suit. I'm prepared to break it apart and frag it but that's going to be a lot of frags. So here's a dumb question. Could I glue the frags together to make a new colony of sorts? And should I be looking for some kind of water treatment in case it is giving off some kind of death signal?

Just because a birdnest is going up in smoke doesn't mean other corals will do the same. I've seen one do that in my tank while everything else was fine. Doublecheck alkalinity, just in case.

You can pile up living twigs and they will grow into themselves in a few weeks, and become a new colony.

    If that's a picture, I can't see it.

Ya that was a picture. I had it in dropbox but it doesn't show here. I'll try moving it from photobucket when I get a few minutes.

Tried a smaller pic...you can see my hand in a black latex glove under it to give you a sense of the size it was.
