My 40g breeder "upgrade"

Rate this Entry
I've been reefkeeping for about 25 years, and in that time I've gone from a 20 long, a 45 tall, and now a 135. When I got the larger tank (for a steal), I was super excited. I finely had the size I wanted. Large enough without being too large. Or so I thought. The tank has been up for about 6 years. In that time I've slowly lost interest. It seems I've put tons of time and money into care and maintenance, and very little time stopping and enjoying the tank. So, much to my wife's delight, I am breaking down the 135 and "upgrading" to a 40 breeder. I'm very excited about this build. In retrospect I really enjoyed my smaller tanks. Anyhow, I put the tank and much of the equipment up on Craig's List, and finely got a hit on the tank. The downside to this is the guy wants to pick it up next Saturday. So here I am scrambling to get the tank emptied and cleaned up by Saturday. Friday afternoon I built a stand for the new tank (got a little ahead of myself). Later I'll skin it. Last night I pulled out a bunch of corals and moved them to the remote fuge for a few days. Today I finished chiseling and picking and have everything out that I can. I need to be extra diligent in selecting rock for the new tank due to a "small" aptasia and bubble algae outbreak. Here are a few shots. The current tank as it stands, my corals in the fuge, and the new tank and stand.
