About 18 months ago, I purchased some full sheets of black sign material. They come in 8' x 4' panels, and are about 1/8" thick (like cardboard, but very smooth). This is great to bond a poster or picture to to keep a nice flat presentation. Since I had it handy, I cut a 20" strip to cover the front of the tank for some pictures today. The other half was held in place with magnets on the fishroom side. Without the blue VHO lighting filling the living room and my eyes, the colors of the corals stood out more readily. My tank was heading into the 20,000K spectrum, which leans heavily into the blue hue.

With the light still shining out the back of the tank, the water container in the background is visible.

Once I installed the black material to the backside to block the light leaking out, the background became darker and less visible through the tank.

Here's the view from the back of the tank, which I usually don't share successfully due to the reflections caused by the lights above.

This last image is "photoshopped" basically. I had it in Lightroom and was trying to mask out the background. Particulates were blowing around when I took this picture. However, after a few clicks, it looked more like stars hanging over this acropora. So while it is fake, it's neat to look at.

This is Day 57, nearly two months since the livestock was placed in the tank.
