A visit to ATM in Las Vegas

Rate this Entry
Earlier this month, I went to Las Vegas for my first time ever. While in town, I had to make it a point to visit Acrylic Tank Manufacturing, or ATM for short. Before my arrival, I had spoken to Brett Raymer via facebook to hopefully meet up, but it turned out he was stuck in California for the week. Using the address off their website, I followed the Map App to my destination, but couldn't find it. Fortunately a nice woman provided directions over the phone. Soon I saw multiple Petco 18-wheeler trailers backed up against the bay doors, and spotted this van parked near the front door. Their huge sign wasn't installed yet, which was what I had been expecting to spot from a distance.

The General was the first person I ran into as soon as I came in the front door. He was happy to give me a brief tour, although my timing couldn't have been worse. They'd recently moved locations, and were still in the process of setting up. It would have been great to see a few massive tanks mid-construction, right?

Huge pieces of equipment were being moved into place.

I saw the car aquarium that was featured on the show in one area. While these tanks seem so neat on the show, it saddens me that they don't run longterm. I'm sure many of us would love to read how they are progressing. I passed Serendipity on the strip, where I'm pretty sure the Bubble Gum tank was featured. I also stopped by Minus-5 for the Freezer tank, but it wasn't there either.

Even the educational school bus tank isn't in use at this time.

I'll have to return again in the future, as since my visit I've seen some nice updates on their facebook page, and it looks like they are back to work. It would be fun to hang out and just watch these guys for a few hours, building dreams into reality.
