Well, well, well....looks like I'm back on familiar grounds. It has been nearly two years since I last started my 300 Gallon Mixed Reef. I sold off my second build reef and have just planning rimless.
I plan on doing some interesting things with this new setup, and I know that it will be even better than the last one.
The new tank will be Rimless and will have the following specs:
Display Tank
120cm L x 100cm W x 65cm H Rimless
Nearly 200 gallons extremely custom made
3 Sided Starphire glass(Front, Left and right panels). All glass will be tempered and polished.
Back glass External coast to coast Overflow with 5cm x 3 drain and 4cm x 2 Return similar as 300G
12mm glass all around
Stand
The stand will be Iron framed with Black wooden covered all around. All equipment in cluding sump , QT, FT will be under the tank. It will look similar to my last 300G stand, but with a different color and look this time.
The stand will be lower to the ground this time, only 80cm height allowing for a perfect view when seated. The tank will have its own special area and everything will be designed around it. Small table will be attached with Tank Stand for additional decoration purpose.
Sump
Sump is undecided, but may go with a simple as before, 70 plus gallon. Nothing too fancy. Will be very simple. No rocket science at all.
Water Movement
Tunze Multi Controller 7095.000
2 x Tunze Turbelle® Stream 6125 (3,170 USgal./h).
Return pump not decided yet. I will not go for something will blast the tank or less then requirement. Water circulation will be 7 to 7.5 time total system vol.
Lighting
2 - Lumen Bright Pendant - Mogul Based
2 x 400W MH SE Radium 20K
8 x 28W Actanic blue T5
Skimmer
Reef Octopus Extreme XS 250 Protein Skimmer. In previous tank Octopus DNWB-200 Needle wheel Recalculating Skimmer have done great job. So decided to buy same brand..
Calcium and Alk Addition
Randy’s Two Part Solution
I never used CA reactor and Kalk Stirrer in the past and honestly have had better results with a simple DIY two part solution.
So this time I will be using Bubble Magus Dosing Pump BM-T01 to feed the solutions to the aquarium.
Substrate
The bottom of the tank will be covered with a NLS (Natural Live sand) .
Rocks
This time no Live rock will go inside the DT. I will use Artificial rock shape PVC fabricated rocks. Which will 100% safe to detritus built up.
Water
As usual NO synthetic Salt. NSW (Natural Sea Water) is the major part of this built, because "EVERYTHING IN THIS HOBBY IS WATER"..
Reactors
Two Little Fishies Phosban Reactor 150 will part of this system. one for Activated carbon and another will be for GFO.
Corals
The tank will be Mixed coral dominated. I will also have 6-8 Maxima clams in as well. The soft stuff will make for a nice filler towards the bottom. I will not have any corals on the sand, and will utilize negative space to the extreme.
Fish
My beloved Red Sea Purple tang will be in the tank, along with Yellow Tangs. The new tank will feature many different kind of Anthies up to 20+.
Now, as many of you know, I am not a tech junkie or anything like that. I like to keep my tanks as simple as possible. One return line, one drain, etc. You will not see any fancy piping or wiring, but you will see amazing results in the aquarium itself.
Thank you all, and I try my best that you will not be disappointed with the build to come.
