hello fellow reef addicts, i though i would bring you up to speed on my current project.

i purchased a 125g tank stand and hood used from a lfs i gave 350$ for it and its perfect no scratches and the back isn't tempered

the plan for the tank was to drill it and install a glass holes 3000gph overflow build a custom sump and move my 40gb that is already drilled and a established reef tank over beside the 125 and run it off of the same sump and i would get rid of my 55g tank and just have one larger system to take care of here were my initial designs
i will be using a dart as a return pump and another dart as a closed loop on the 125

so i drilled the tank and painted the back black and built my sump

eventually i ordered my skimmer i decided to go with a reef octopus xs-200 and got everything plumbed up and got the 40gb moved over and hooked up to the new sump.

the 40gb is running well on the new sump. the next step is ordering 200lb of fiji dry live rock and fiji pink sand and another reeflo pump and to get the closed loop plumbed and the 125g portion cycling. i will let the 125g run with only the closed loop and a heater running until the tank is ready for the inhabitants of my 55g to be moved over. meanwhile i will be building a diy multichip led system for both tanks

if you would like more info about the builds follow my threads on rc

Hope you don't mind, but I increased the image size in your blog entry. Might as well enjoy them as we read along.

I like you scale model sketchup. How's the sump working out so far?

What's up with the 68 El Camino in the background? Looks like it doesn't move much with the tires chock'd...

the sump is working out well so far plenty of room and easy access to everything. i really like the filter sock trey versus the filter sock holders i seems so be quieter for both in sump noise and overflow noise from the tank
