Midnight

Today I installed the Boosted RODI unit (from Melev's Reef) and had the neighbor over to look at the garage. The neighbor is Mike Laforge who owns Pavement Pros and Concrete Solutions of the Carolina's in York, SC. He does exceptional work from standard driveways to concrete patios. If your in the Charlotte Metro and need concrete work I would highly recommend his work.

First order of business was getting a water supply to the garage. I tee'd off of the ice maker line that was already tapped into the kitchen sink. I needed to redo this line anyway because the original person did not think it prudent to add a shutoff near the fridge.



I opted to have an inline shutoff before going into the RO unit since the saddle valve is located under the house. I don't exactly like going into the crawl space after all.

Next I unpacked and hung the main unit. Since the instructions are electronic and I was too lazy to look them up, I had to orientate myself on what each tube was for. The red is supply, the blue is clean, and black is the drain.



I chose to hang the TDS meter in between the main and the DI bracket, though I think the instructions show it adhered to the main bracket near the pressure gauge.

I then finished plumbing everything together and re-installed the DI cartridge and housing.



Marc ships this unit with the materials to separate the RO water from the DI unlike the old unit. So I plumbed it in with the separations. I will likely alter the lines coming from the RO and the DI once I get some more progress and get things in place.

I then purged the first five gallons of water using just the RO as recommended due to the preservative on the filters. I took a picture of the constant flow coming out of this thing. This was just a handy dirty bucket, by no means was the water coming out discolored.



One possible problem though I may not have waited long enough, is that the pump did not turn off after the water did when I closed the valve. I closed the valve and waited for the DI to fill and then the auto shutoff stopped the water but not the pump. I gave it a few extra minutes and then unplugged it because I needed to leave. Here is a picture of the pumps auto shutoff, it may not have been installed correctly. I'm not sure and I hope Marc can point me in the right direction.



The tube going to the left is going to the DI cartridge if I remember correctly.
