I was in the new house last night doing some measuring and snapped a few pictures to show you guys where the tank is going.
The location of the new tank. Sorry for the grainy picture, it was semi dark in there and I didn't turn on flash.
We don't officially close on the how until Thursday so I can not start demolition until after that.
What? Demolition you say? Yes in fact, demolition will be one of the first orders of business. The wall that is shared with the garage is a little different than most garage walls.
This Garage was actually a carport when it was first built. Therefore, there is a brick wall between that living room and the garage. The other obstacle is that the floors of the two are approximately 2 feet different. This difference in height would not normally be a problem for most reefers. However, since this tank is going to be on display from both sides, this height difference would hinder close up viewing of the garage side depending on the height of tank in the living room.
Fortunately, one of my current neighbors owns a concrete business. Which equates to getting work done for cost of materials only. So the current plan is to cut out an eight foot section of brick from the floor to near the top of the wall. The remainder of the brick will be carried across some steel angle to keep the bricks from coming loose over time. Then he will be putting down an eight by six foot concrete pad that is twelve inches high. On top of that is where the four foot stand will be placed. This will make the tank start at approximately three feet in the house and four feet in the garage with the pad to stand on.
That is all I've got for now
