Looking for a skimmer that will handle 2 x 80 Gallon Frag tanks with maintainence fish. I am considering this as the local reef shop recommended it, but I want more than they're opinions. Reef Octopus Super Reef 2000 Internal Skimmer
I have the 3000 model and love it. The pump has been reliable, quiet, and pulls in a lot of air. The gate valve allows for easy fine-tuning. The skimmers is very sturdy and does not feel cheap in any way. I believe the 2000 model should be more than big enough for 2 80 gallon frag tanks.
yes, it's rated at 180gallons
At that price point I would go with something like this. http://www.reefdynamics.com/INS135-P...r-p/ins135.htm I own one of the bigger ones and wouldn't trade for the world. No tuning necessary.
I own this exact model and love it. As stated above, the gate valve is a must and great for tuning. I picked this one because of its more cone like design, which I feel most manufactures are going towards these days. I don't know about the Reef Dynamics one, I feel skimmers need to be tweaked to perform best. A perfect example of this is how much the water level in the sump, and the result it has on the production of the skimmer.
