Redbug Treatment!

Hey Friends! So after doing some speedy reading I’m pretty sure i got everything right, i just treated the tank, I’m now waiting!
The very first thing I did was make 15gal of saltwater so I’m ready to go in case of emergency.
It was hard to figure out how much interceptor i needed to use, it seems most of the information out there is for large tanks; this is where chemistry class helped! I used known values (1large tab treats 380gal and contains 23mg of milbemycin oxime) to calculate that I needed 3.63mg of milbemycin oxime to treat my 60gal net volume
After researching, I found that interceptor comes in many sizes. The Large tabs seem to be a favorite but for me it was not functional, 1large tab would be far more than I needed and getting my exact volume would be much harder! So the smallest tabs containing 2.3mg of milbemycin oxime was chosen. I stopped by the vet, they were happy to sell it to me and very interested in its alternative use
i crushed up 2 small tabs of interceptor (4.6mg of milbemycin oxime) and quantitatively transferred the compound to a plastic beaker.
With vigorous stirring, i diluted to 100ml using tank water creating a solution with a 46mg/L concentration, to help dissolve the interceptor i heated the water in the microwave.
i then disconnected my carbon reactor and took off the venturi from my skimmer.
To get 3.63mg of milbemycin oxime, 78.9ml rounded to 80ml of solution was used, the solution was added to a high flow area in the display tank, the remaining 20ml containing +/- 1mg will be added 2hours in to treatment.
and now i wait
Finally done!! I just finished my last water change, I like to do them slow using airline to drain and my auto top off to replenish, in total i did 15gal of water exactly 25%, in addition I have my carbon reactor ¾ full of carbon and I plan on doing another 10gal water change tomorrow (maybe)
My 6hours of waiting was really 6.5 hours (I wanted to make sure it really worked) they most definitely make it through the first 5hours but at 5.5hr the mortality raid increases exponentially. During the first of my water changes I had great PE and I couldn’t see and RedBugs so let’s hope they are gone, I will be preforming a second treatment next week, however it will probably be an overnight treatment.
A final examination, summary and pics will be added tomorrow
