My uncle got out of the hobby sometime around 2004 and sold most of his stuff, this week my parents went to visit and he passed along some of his last reef equipment.
5-stage spectra pure filter, with a pure check monitor, auto shut off, extra DI and chloramine filters
My first concern is what to do with it; I already have 6 stages on my current system hmmmm…11 stage double membrane? This is very tempting. All the filters and membrane need to be replaced which isn’t a big deal because I’m ordering pre-filters soon anyway, my next concern is the older style auto shut off valve for the float and nylon twist style conectors, I think I may go ahead and replace it just to be safe. I know nothing about this pure check monitor I assume its TDS…I don’t think I’ll be using it, I’d much rather use my digital readout. Lastly the 2 Color-Indicating Anion Cartridges and 2 chloramine filters, they are still sealed so ill definitly use the Anion but I don’t think I have any use for the chloramine, as far as I know they just use chlorine in the water here, but if I do go 11stages ill use it while I have it…it can’t exactly hurt anything.
Garbage can reservoir and float, (there is a lid) This will most definitely be used to avoid me forgetting I’m making water and having to clean up a mess. It’s just going to need a good scrub
LOTS of books with great info, I can’t wait to start flipping through these, I’m not sure how outdated any of the info is.
and some fish food, this probably won’t be used A) because its old and B) because i only feed frozen
