Snorkeler's Cube

On May 15th I went to a reefers meeting, something not very common in this city (Sao Paulo), where despite a population of about 18 million people, lots of reefers, and our typical Brazilian informal and friendly way of relating, there are no reef clubs and most reefers don't get together often. Go figure... must be a product of how traffic sucks big time in this city and you think twice before setting an appointment....

Anyway, Sao Paulo blues aside, the encounter was great and I was able to buy some Cheato algae for my refugium. I had been looking for some since I got my current refugium, but they were nowhere to be bought or found. As this encounter was being organized at the ReefCorner and IPAQ forum I broadcasted my desire for Cheato and one guy attending the encounter took some packs to sell.

At the encounter there was also a bingo (the guy arms up in the air was the organizer of the encounter, Renan Kfouri):

At that bingo my kid helped another reefer score his sheets, and that reefer won a round, getting some stuff including a brown star polyp colony. He didn't want it, so, he gave it to my kid (in this picture with polyps retracted):


And here my cheato finally in the refugium. Curiously though, it didn't grow much... I'm not sure why as I know there are nutrients in the water for I have a little but of green hair algae in the display tank (just a little):


Here is a picture nowadays (July 17th), as you can see very little of that ball remains:


Might be the lighting or lack of flow in the refugium....
