Hey if i bought a 48" 716 watt Metal Halide system and put it on a standard 75 gallon aquarium do you think i would need a chiller?
I just bought a 700 watt fixture also on my 75 gallon bow front.... Maybe a month ago I noticed about a 2 to 4 degree change in temp.... It was not too bad
Thank you for you reply what is average tempature of your display tank now? and do your heaters run at all?
Your numbers in the post aren't very clear to me. Is that two 250w bulbs and some PCs or T5s? All of these methods cool a tank inexpensively: If you use cooling fans blowing across the surface of the water If you leave your canopy open a little bit during the day time to allow heat to vent out If you have a fan blowing down on the water of your sump to cool itI recommend keeping your tank's temperature somewhere around 79F to 81F daily. What temperatures are you seeing currently? Be sure that your heaters aren't coming on and adding heat this time of year.
2 MH 250 watt, 4 54w t-5 6 duel LED There is 2 cooling fans on top So do you think i will need my heaters on? there at 79 right do i need heaters what do u prefer?
If your tank drops to 78F you should have your heater bring it back up to 79 and shut off. That's how mines are set up. However, now that we are in the summer, I've had them turned off entirely. It really comes down to how cold your keep your home. If your tank drops down to 77 or 76F at night, and then crawls back up to 83F during the heat of the day, you've got too big a swing. I think keeping it from getting too cold is key, but should shut off as soon as it is at the mininum level you've assigned it.
I have heater for the night.... I only turn on my halides for 5 hours and then light up the rest of the day with the t5's this is how I handle the heat generated by my lamps and always keep the hood open.... I do run my ac all day (Florida can't live without ac).... The average temp of the tank 79 I will look at my aqua controller and tell you exact temp when lights are on
I just looked at my aqua controller.... It reads 77 degrees all day and 79 to 80 degress when the halides are on.
Hey another question how much does the electric bill go up for metal halide lighting? and how much wattage would there have to be for a chiller? i have a rose bubble tip anemone i have a 216 t-5 fixure right now and im upgrading to a 716 metal halide system how much difference is that going to make for my anemone? also Melev i seen your picture of your rose tip anemone and it has thin tentacles mine has bubbles are those two different kinds?
Here you go, Mouse: http://www.reefaddicts.com/content.p...ing-vs-Heating I can't begin to explain why BTAs bubble sometimes and not other times. I've not been able to figure out a common reason, even though a few theories seemed plausible at first. None panned out.
