A fun hitchhiker (I hope)

I spotted this guy on the rock this evening. There are actually 3 or 4 of them. They are in a very difficult place to photograph so I did the best I could. The very middle of it is purple, the a pinkish ring, followed by a purple ring and the tips fluores green. My rather uneducated guess would be some sort of zoanthid. My live rock it Bali Alor rock. So, any guesses on what it is, and if it is a zoanthid the common name of it?

    manjo anemone PEST, get rid of them now before they spread like GSP. While they look neat they are bad for the nearby corals.

    Definitely a type of zoanthid, you can ID it on zoaid.com. Personally, I don't like to kill anything unless I know exactly what it is and if it can harm other tankmates. People lose too many cool hitchhikers because they think they are pests like majano anemones can sometimes be. Just be careful and do research before making the decision to kill something. I find the little things like hitchhiker zoanthids to be the cooolest things in my tank.

    UM, ya..... BTW if they were ZOA's they would all be together.

    From the pictures I can see how one would possibly identify it as a majano, especially looking at the green tips. However, I am 99% sure that it is not a majano looking at it with my own eyes. I will watch it and will not hesitate to "take care of it" if it turns out to be a majano.

    I am also slow to kill anything that I have not gotten a firm ID on. Thanks for the resource to ID it with, I have not found it yet but have only looked through a few so far.

    Sorry, I have to disagree. I have seen many single polyp zoanthids and I have seen many colononies of manjanos.

    Looks like a eagle eye or watermelon with a less pronounced red ring. Here's a picture of my eagle eyes.



    I think ultimately gist should decide for himself since he can probably see the detail better.

    Eagle eye zoanthid. Like Eric Clapton might sing "Let It Grow".

    Picture not to clear so I enhanced it with iPhone PhotoShop and it really does look like a Eagle Eye Zoa.

    My first impression was of an eagle eye zoa as well. They are not always together, as it depends on how they got to the rock. Sometimes polyps become detatched from the main colony for whatever reason... they'll reattach when they land on a good spot long enough.

    Based on pics I've seen of the Mojano, this does not appear to be one.

    Definitely a zoa. Nice find!!!

    Not sure how it could even be mistaken as a manjo.

    thats a mojano for sure! i had those exact ones in my tank and they killed some of my sps when they touched it, they never carpeted like zoa's just spread like apatasia. watch it carefully if you see them pop up hear and there and never carpet i woul start killing them.

    I appreciate everyone's input!

    I will try to get a better picture, but as I said it is in a very tough place for me to photograph.

    Using my own eyes I have to side with the Eagle Eye Zoa camp. To be honest I never even thought it may be a mojano. It does not have any tentacles (probably wrong term) in the middle of the body, they are all along the edge like a zoanthid. I also observed it closed up and it looks like a closed zoa and it appears there is a path of tissue that leads to the other two or three polyps.

    That being said if they spread in a way uncharacteristic of a zoa and more like a majano I will strike them down with a vengeance!
