Wes donated this big Fighting Conch to my system because I have a lot of sand and space for it to enjoy. I've not measured the shell yet, but it's a beast. Note the Astrea snail to its right.



It has beautiful blue eyes that always keep track of what is going on in the tank.





As it moves about the substrate's surface, it cleans up whatever looks tasty. It will then submerge into the sand, leaving only a little of its shelll visible, and one eye will stare up from the grains of sand. It stays submerged for days, and I believe this is when the snail grows a little.

While taking these pictures, both tangs thought they were missing out on something important, and caused the conch to retreat into its shell repeatedly.

Spock would nip at the shell as if there was something to snack on.




Crown Royal cruised closely by, but never actually disturbed its neighbor directly.
