finally filled

well it's been a long few months now. first i wanted to move my sump to the basement, both for a larger one, and to take advantage in the cooling, and also to set up a real refugium. so in sept, while working insane hours i started. i get most of the plumbing done except for a few parts that i didn't have time to get. my town isn't well known for having salt stuff, and the only place that sells plumbing parts that i needed was only open when i was working. i still had my small sump running upstairs so no big deal. i purchased a new reeflo snapper hybrid for my return pump. the guy that sold me the pump say's it will work great for you. so i get it hooked up and find out it won't pump water upstairs, but he won't take it back, so i'm stuck. then i find a crack all down the side of my small sump, water pouring on the floor, and my daughter saying "i don't know".
so then i get layed off, find a new 50g for a sump, find a 45g tall for a ref. i already had the stand.
with christmas, getting sick for 3 weeks, and still no call back i haven't done much till today. i drilled the 45, build a glass overflow for it, found some glass for a top and some old lights. filled it up tonight. in the morning i'll put all the cheato that's taking over my dt into it. i wasn't fussy about putting the cheato into the display, but figured it would help keep the water stable till i could get a new pump.
my old little giant 4 sc is getting pressed into service as my return starting tomorrow, till i get back to work.
i mixed up 80g of new water today, and am just trying to get it up to temp so i can add a few things. in my 110 display i've probably got 5g of cheato, if not more right now.lol

so after all this started, i got a case of cyno. used chemi clean np. didn't have a skimmer but did run carbon through a hob filter, and lots of water changes. when it died off i got a few frags, and with them came bruch algea, so i've been battling that, now it's almost gone. i am starting bio pellets, and going to be adding gfo in the other reactor. the tote is my temp water storage container, until i find a couple of 55g drums. i threw a sponge filter into the ref tonight, because that power head is the loudest pos i've ever seen, and i know my daughter will want it off when she goes to bed.
hopefully tomorrow i can fire up the pump and see if i can get to the second floor.
anyone want a new snapper?

Okay, why is Donald Trumps hair in your display tank My sump is a floor below my display as well.. Currently using a Pan World 50Px-x as a return. Serious head pressure, however, only creating low flow through the sump... Maybe 350gph if I'm lucky.

Just remember, anticipation is 95% of the journey.

Wow, you've been through a lot Mark. Found a new job yet? Watch out that the cheato doesn't get stuck in the powerhead(s).

well i fired up the old pump and get around 400gph. for now it's a start. i have to throttle down the overflow because the 1 1/2" drain is way more than the pump, it was just clearing out the overflow, then waiting. really loud. i do have another 1 1/2" that's my emergency and is wide open so there's no problem if the regular drain get's clogged.
the sump works well, no bubbles, lots of volume. the ref has a really low flow, and tons of space, although right now it's full of cheato.lol
the skimmer went crazy when i hooked it back up, but only for a few hours, thank god i did alot of water changes when it wasn't running. hopefully tonight i'll be able to catch the damsel from my dt and send him to fishy jail, but he's a real pain to catch. i have an extra di cannister i'm going to use as a fish trap. i'll drop in some shrimp, tie some fishing line on it and drop it in the tank. mabye he'll go in and i can raise it up.
