App for iPhone

Rate this Entry
Ok, this may seem like an odd request but since Verizon now has the iPhone I would like to set it up to control my reef. My question is what app and what controller (and anything else) do I need? Also will this app work on an iPad as well, seeing how a co-worker won 3 of them and gave me one today

Thanks in advance.

I have an ATT iPhone and use the Aquanotes app. It's made by Nullriver, Inc. Just search it in the app store on your phone. Should be a free download. I have this to monitor and "control" via my Neptune Systems Apex controller. Works flawlessly, like a remote for my fish tank.

The best one for me is Neptune System's Aqua Controller with the free AquaNotes App. The Apex works just as well, but I don't know if the app is even needed for it. It may, I just don't know. The Apex has web-software built in, making it very computer/web friendly.

I just picked up an iphone 4 and am thinking about adding DA's Net module to my existing Reefkeeper Lite set up. For an extra 120 bucks it seems like a no brainer, but with my situation the extra 150 bucks or so to set up a wireless network might push it over the limit for me. But who am I kidding, I'm sure I'll be incorporating this soon.

One feature that would send me to the lfs today would be a built in web cam so you can watch your tank with parameters all in the same app.

Thanks for the info, with the remote access function of my iMac I can turn on the web cam and see the reef at any time. Just have to move the computer

You want an aquacontroller. find a used aquacontroller 3 or get an apex, the apex is alot more up to date but it is more expensive too. after that find aquanotes in itunes. i actually used my ipod to program my controller. its alot easier doing maintenance when you can just pull out your phone and shut off a pump than root around for the cord. aquacontroller now has a few features that will work well your vortechs too, but i think that i the apex model
