Not overly exciting, but you can see the true DIY nature of my work tank.


This is my Tunze 9002 DOC skimmer from a good friend that will remain nameless. Thank you sir if you're reading this...
It's gotten a lot of great reviews so I'm really expecting quite a bit out of it.


Here's a full front shot of the tank and stand. It's totally DIY. I built it after my Vikings lost Sunday so I had lost some motivation for sure. Not a great day overall.

But in all truth, the stand didn't turn out to bad for the time I spent on it. It will more than do the job! Next are the baffles for the in tank sump and those should be in by Wednesday or so. Once they are in place, it's all about testing and water! I'm going to add water, salt and sand and a couple rocks and let it sit as long as I can stand. I have my 20g that's bursting at the seams and is more than ready to move over to it's new home!

My in tank sump will also have a 6" x 9" x 16" refugium in the middle. I'm going with a deep sand bed there, and some mangroves with some live rubble as well. I'll pop a small bulb over it for light at night for a alternating cycle to help with pH swings.

Honestly I'm already wishing I had gone with the 75g. But this will be fine for a year or so... By that time I hope to get a 180 in the office!

Still not sure if I want to go with the RKE or RKL. Honestly, it might be fun to do an RKL build. We've all got RKE on our current tanks here and it would be fun to be different. I may have to much going on to do that, so I'll have sit down and write it all out. But I'll do that in a later post when the tank is cycling. One thing I'm going to try and get up and running soon is a webcam for the tank! That way I can show friends and family when I'm away and you all can see the tanks progress!
