Looking for some advice on breeding cardinal fish

Rate this Entry
I'm looking to start breeding cardinal fish. Has anyone here ever done this successfully? I'm looking for good setup ideas(ie how many tanks, lighting, additives, and any other equipment). My goal is to breed and record my experiences. Hopefully we as hobbyists can make an impact in the collection of wild fish. To allow the reefs to rebuild and replenish itself. Tank raised fish are better kept and can be raised to eat man made foods allowing a greater varity of reef fish that we can keep and raise successfully. I know there are a few breeding websites out there. Feel free to post any info here on any type of fish or breeding experiences here too. Thanks and happy reefing!!!!!!

I can answer your questions you might have. I've breed banggai cardinals in the past. My set-up was very low-tech.

    Fry Tank:
4 gallon cube with sponge filter, heater and small air pump.

What he posted was a DIY urchin for the fish to host in. I've seen it done with putty and plastic toothpicks as well.
