Well after four years of mounting frags on live rock, I finally came up with a better solution. At least for me. Let me know what you think.
First off let me say this is better for me, I never said cheaper. LOL
Mounting corals frags to the live rock never was a pleasant experience. The epoxy putty would either get to hard too quick, or fail to stick to the live rock.
Then I had a idea to use magnets to hold down my corals. That way I could move them to different spots in my tank, whenever the need arose. I could also remove the frag / mini colony to dip for pest too !
I found the products that Ocean Wonders sells works best for me. Any aquarium epoxy and super glue will work, though your mileage may differ.
This is the the ceramic frag magnet they sell.
I first mix some reef safe epoxy and super glue it to the ceramic frag magnet. Then I super glue it to the spot on my live rock I wish to place my coral frag.
Next I super glue my frag to another ceramic frag magnet and place it on the ceramic magnet already in the tank.
That's it !
I do not use the metal magnet in your tank, Just the ceramic part !
