I'm so excited! I finished my rock work finally. I had to mortar four rocks together and it took me forever to get someone to come over who was willing to offer a hand to get the rocks in the tank with the acrylic rod. I drained the water from the water test a month ago and arranged the rocks in their final position. I added a 5 gallon bucket of sand to cover up the acrylic plate that the rod is threaded into. I've added a few pics here of the rock drilling process. The mortar was from MarcoRocks.com as well. I needed to connect two pieces together horizontally instead of resting them on each other in a typical pile. I took the rocks out and added the mortar 360º around. I let it sit for a day and this stuff is rock hard and durable. I'm trusting it to be the length I need for the two "arms" in my aquascaping.
Below you'll see pics of the tank from different angles with sand it in and the light on. You'll also notice I've finished the hanging light box for the retro fit fixture from Ecoxotic. I'm really getting stoked to get livestock in there. Looking forward to watching fish again while I work at the desk next to it.
