New 75g RR is getting wet *updated with pics*

Rate this Entry
Well I finally got the aquascaping and all like I want it for the time being. I went with 2 islands, a larger on the right and a smaller on the left wrapping around the overflow...

RO/DI got plumbed through the house from the utility closet, so the line is in there right now filling her up. Hopefully late tomorrow night I'll be adding salt and powerheads to start the cycle

I'll toss up some new pics tomorrow night. I definitely got away from the stacked rock look the 29 had (albeit the 29 didn't really give many options since it was so small) and this will give my fish alot more room to dart around. The tank is only 18 inches longer and 6 inches deeper then the 29, but by god it dwarfs it with the 2 sitting close to each other in the same room.

Ok here's some pics... These 2 are the FTS, 1 a little bit further out and the colors washed out, so I brought it in a bit closer. These are just cellphone pics so not the best quality

And here's a shot of my new Metal Halide light fixture. It's a 48" outer orbit setup, with 2 150w Metal Halides and 4 54w t5 bulbs. It also includes 18 mixed LED's in the fixture for moonlighting.

    Awesome! But it needs pictures!!!

And to put the size difference in perspective it's 60% longer and 50% wider than the 29.

ugh, leaking tanks are no good I wish you the best in that one.

As for the aquascaping party, I'd swing by but you're a tad bit far from me lol... maybe phil will swing over, he at least has a plane

And just another update... I tempted fate since about 6 o'clock last night when I ran an ro tube directly to the tank. I let it run all night long, and then decided to let it run today also while I was at work... I came home to a PERFECTLY filled tank/sump... like literally it was exactly spot on where it needed to be... I couldn't have done that again if I tried.

Waiting for the last bit of sand to settle... I get some really strong flow just with my return pump, alot more then I'm used to in the 29g, but I'm going to throw my modded maxi-jet 900 in it once the salt starts going in tonight. Hopefully by the end of the night, salt will be mixed, some LR rubble from my current sump will be down below in the dark, and I'll be waiting for bacteria growth

Hat: Doesn't a leaking tank mean it's time for a 300 gal upgrade?

Dread: that's awesome. I love setting up new tanks. If you have an old hang on filter it'll clear the water up in a couple hours.

Hat, is the tank or the plumbing leaking. you have worked too hard and been very patient. You don't deserve it.

Thanks y'all, the left front bottom of the tank has a leak. It started just as a real slow drip, but now it's a constant drip. I'm hoping to baby it till the first of the year.

And, yeah Phil a upgrade is coming! ;-). But, I'm going with a 90 gallon because thats the biggest I can get and still use my stand and canopy. Thanks Midnight for the kind words. ;-). I have been very patient with this build. I haven't even set my light timers yet. Hahah. ;-)

Hat: Hope you realize I was kidding, and making reference to what Marc is going though right now. A leak is never a good thing and always a mess.
  15. dread240's Avatar
Hat just needs to go deep and turn an entire room into a fish tank... like 10 x 14 x 10... I'd fly down to help with that lol
  16. Hat39406's Avatar
I know you were Phil...heh...an upgrade was the first thing I thought of when I found the leak. And Dread... Don't tenp me now... Naw. I was thinking big and really was thinking of going smaller with a 40 breeder. Then I could get the LED setup from Reef Koi. ;-)
    *EDIT*

ginger as in a redhead inside a 40 breeder? isn't that a little inhumane?
