April 16, 2011: At the Southwest Florida Marine Aquarium Society's 4th Annual Reef Conference, Reeflo Pumps was on hand showcasing a brand new pump. It is the adjustable speed BlowHole, and comes in two models: 750 and 1250.
The BlowHole pump has three speed settings, and is designed for aquariums 30 to 80g in size. At 6' head pressure, this pump is rated to move between 310gph and 725gph.
The larger version can provide return flow for a 75 to 125 gallon tank. The pump has a 6" x 6" footprint, has two threaded union 1" ports, and comes with a two year warranty. The 1250 at 6' head pressure is rated between 375gph to 840gph.
These pumps are for external use, and when you look at it you'll think that it is meant to be used inline. Basically it is. From the bulkhead, it goes in one end and out the other, and the speed you set it to determines the flow rate in GPH. The representative stated that it is best to elbow after the pump rather than on the intake side, so keep that in mind.
Priced at under $100, I can see this becoming a popular choice for hobbyists. Power consumption looks good as well, based on the charts below. Here's the flow chart given to us.

Don't forget about the new Reeflo Dart-Snapper Hybrid. It's priced at $275 and allows you to upgrade or downgrade your pump based upon the system you set up.
We hope to do a full product review of this new pump in the future, so check back for more details.
