  1. thinking about changing my lighting...

Let me first start off by saying I have no living corals anymore. I had a bit of a temperature issue which has been resolved but I am also wondering since I had some issues keeping sps alive prior to the temp issue if my lights had something to do with it. I currently have no hair algae and tank parameters are within range.

Anyway on to the reason for my topic. My wife has given me permission to purchase 2 ecotech radions XR30w pros. I hate the cost of them of them as we all do but ...

  2. Lighting for 60g cube

    Good day, Reef Addicts!

I have a lot of decisions to make for my new tank set up. (Rimless 60g 24"x24"x24") But there are two larger ones that are weighing on my mind heavily. The first one is my sump location (I'll do a separate blog entry on that) the second is my lighting system. I basically have my heart set on one of two options, but if anyone can convince me to change my mind, then props to them.

First option is to have 10 NO T12s.

As many of you know I had decided to do a restart on my tank and correct earlier mistakes/lack of knowledge from when I started my tank 2 years ago. Several of my corals were dead or dying and I had placed corals into my tank that I later realized was a mistake (Xenia, blue clove polyps, ect...) I looped my pump return from my sump back into my sump again, kept the skimmer running, maintained a constant temperature, maintained choeto in the refugium, and kept the biopellet reactor operational to ...

  4. Restart Update

Well I thought I would give a quick update on what was going on with my tank restart.

I ordered 50lbs of keylargo rock from Marco Rock that has arrived.

I purchased a 10 gallon tank and filled it up to use as my frag tank, painted the back glass, made a frag rack out of light diffuser, installed a heater, 30 gallon rated biowheel, added a nano korelia, added led lighting, waited for the temperature to level out and started moving over frags. I did not cycle the tank though ...

  5. Future Option for Adjusting LED Colour and Intensity Outputs aka Controller in a Bulb

by , 10-17-2012 at 09:30 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
I was clicking through Kickstarter and saw this, the LIFX light bulb. "LIFX is a WiFi enabled, multi-color, energy efficient LED light bulb that you control with your iPhone or Android."

Think of the implications for controllers, and reef tech. Crap, everything is going to be wifi enabled soon isn't it?
