  1. Albany area reefers?

I'll be moving up to the Albany/Saratoga area here in a couple months and I was wondering if there were any reef clubs out that way. And if not if there was anyone interested in getting one started. If anyone knows of any, drop me a line and let me know. I should be in the area around April/May time frame (or whenever the Navy decides to tell me to move) and would really like to get involved now that I'll have much more time at home to devote to my tanks.

  2. Three days with no lights

To Kill the cyano Ive been fighting with all year. Its causing me a huge amount of stress worrying for my corals. My Bubble master 250 has pulled a full cup of pink skimmate every 12 hours on day two. I wonder if I can keep up today.

I have a 10% WC ready to go. I think Ill vacuum my sump and frag tank out just to help matters.

  3. Round two...

    1) Drain water
    2) Wash sand (hope it's enough)
    3) Add RO water
    4) Start adding salt
    5) Check water and wonder why the salinity is sooooo high??? (Did they give me mixed water at the store? -I need to get my RO/DI unit set up.)
    6) Water looks better, now we'll see how it does in the morning.
    7) 9pm and I'm heading home...

    From AAP:
The snails have a cocktail of powerful agents in their venom, which they use to immobilise their prey, explains Professor David Adams who is director of the Health Innovations Research Institute at Melbourne's RMIT.

Research is under way to isolate those agents - peptides - which, he said, could be used safely to treat pain in humans as a less problematic alternative to morphine.
