Well upon encouragement from Melev I am attempting SPS once again. I went to the LFS Saturday and found these specimens: The above SPS is purple with small green polyps, It was next to the below acroporas but I couldn't get an ID from the LFS nor have I seen this particular growth style online yet. There are actually two different acropora on this rock with a small frag of the green left ...
When people tell me they want a rimless tank, I always tell them to use glass because it is more rigid and better suited material-wise. You can use thicker material to overcome the bow, but it will still swell outwards over time. This small frag tank has been running for over 3 years. It's only 10g of liquid volume at 8" tall, and even though I used 3/8" cast acrylic it bows out visibly. The tank is 13" wide and the middle span measures 13.5" wide. It began bowing within a month of being set ...

Here are a collection of images of the 400g and the 60g today. I even threw in the frag tank to complete the set. I really like this angle of the two tanks. The back of the 400g, left end. ...
Granted you have to plan your method in advance, but once it is set up, you can do a simple task quite easily without even getting your hands wet. The first thing you need to do is install a floor drain. I turn off the skimmer, return pump, top off, and manifold pump. I also power off the heaters (via the Apex App) to avoid cracking them if they were to attempt to cycle on when exposed to air. The tubing is inserted into a small deflector box to keep the water flowing into the french ...
Well it has been quite some time since I have posted on here so here we go. Sunday I decided to take the time and perform an annual cleaning of the equipment, sump, sand, rocks, refugium, and tank. I cleaned all the non calcium based algae off of the overflow and the votech power heads but I could not find my old Korelia pumps in time for me to willingly soak the power heads long enough to clean coralline off of them and honestly I am quite content with the overflow being covered in it so it will ...
