Hi, I'm starting to plan a 240 gallon tank that I want to build. 4' X 4' and 24" high. Everthing I've read suggests using 1/2" thick Acrylic for tanks that are 19" to 24" high. Not sure yet if I want to put the overflow in one of the corners or as a center column in the center of the tank. It's going in a wall which will position 1/2 half the tank in my rec room and the other half in my den/fishroom. My question.... Can you use a thinner thickness ...

Thanks to some fellow Reefers I have some used Marco Rock for my tank. I have cleaned off the rock with Muriatic acid, and rinsed and is now sitting in a Rubbermaid tub with salt water from my tank mixing with an old pump and a couple of small pieces of rock from my DT. My question now is to find the best way to seed it and put it in my tank. I will be replacing all of the rock that is currently in my tank with this rock. The best way would be to connect this tub with my current system to allow ...
I'm getting ready to add a sump to my tank this weekend (I'll have a separate blog for that operation) and currently have the system mocked up in my shop using an old 29. The eshoppes nano overflow box is really noisy. If I run my pump wide open it burps and slurps. If I add the pre-filter sponge over the outlet that quiets things down considerably, but with the alage problems I've had I'm afraid it'll clog up frequently. There's no room for a Durso style overflow, the box isn't wide enough. ...
