  1. Thinking of ditching my LED's for good ol' T5's

    Am I crazy?

I switched to LED's in July of 2011 since then my fixture has almost 9,000 hours on it. I've been reading that LED's start to lose par even after the first year. I've noticed my growth has really started to slow, since probably last year, and with my LPS die off I'm thinking it may be the lights either too bright for my system or not enough.

So I am thinking of getting an ATI Sunpower Dimmable fixture 6X54w for my 90. Anybody have experience with these fixtures? ...

  2. Monday's Mandarin

The Psychedelic Mandarin is one of my favorite fish. I became enamoured with one early on when I got into reefkeeping, and kept one successfully in my 29g even when others pointed out that it wasn't an ideal situation. My 29g was full of liverock, and I fed the tank often. It seemed quite content, and didn't appear to be emaciated. Basically I was the exception to the rule, and while "melev might be able to do it" it wasn't recommended for small tanks.

  4. No Problems Yet

I am finally at the point in my life and the life of my reef tank where I know I can relax and nothing is going to happen. Well, I may become senile and the Earth may be invaded by aliens, global warming may disturb some polar bears and people will lost interest in Myley Cyrus, but besides that, I'm good. I can't get much balder but my tank almost takes care of itself. I am only here to give the hermit crabs something to make fun at. I don't have to quarantine, test, play with reactors, dosers, ...

  5. Next Wave was fun and I came home with a new item

After many months of planning, Next Wave was another good show. Attendees made it a point to hear each of the four speakers throughout the day on May 3, 2014. I ran my booth all day long, selling products normally offered online. Here's that blog entry, posted on Melev's Reef: http://melevsreef.com/blog/back-back-shows-05042014

When I was able to break away from my booth, I spotted a nice anemone that I thought would be a good addition to the Anemone Cube. I was told it was a bubble ...
