  1. The 29 is starting to fill up nicely

It's been awhile since I've done an update post on the tank, and in that time I've gotten a lot of new goodies. Unfortunately I've been moving stuff around a lil too much in the tank, so I have a tiny diatom bloom atm on the substrate, and a bit of algae has popped up here and there, but overall it's actually staying quite clean. (Well the cleanest I've ever been able to keep a tank yet)

First, we'll toss up some of my new zoanthid and palythoa frags.

  2. My 75g RR tank Build/Update!!!

I had a lot of pics for y'all but wanted to delete a few I uploaded and when I click backspace it took me out of EVERYTHING I had already done. ;-/ So, his a simply update! Yesterday I hung my T-5's I had on my other tank in my stand and ran all the electrical except the lights, they still need to be done and mounted all the way on the canopy back. Canopy is half painted because its to heavy for just me to take off and no one has been over to help me take it off. New T-5's been hung in rear of canopy. ...

  3. Current water parameters

This has been a crazy week with my water parameters taking a hit due to the tank breakdown. The Alkalinity spiked up to 15 dKH, but I turned off the calcium reactor 5 days ago. Water temperatures have risen higher than I prefer, but I've got that normalized as well. The LR (live rock) in the barrel has been circulating and skimmed, and I've been checking it for Ammonia and Nitrite, but it never cycled. The sponges never started dying off, fortunately. I've started moving some of the rock into ...

  4. Nassarius Snail babies!!!

On my way from my office to my bedroom I decided to check out my tank one last time before putting some laundry away. As I was looking at some amphipods that were scurrying around my zoanthids I noticed something moving in the sand. I have baby nassarius snails!!!!!!!! I posted a while back about my nassariuses laying eggs on the glass, and I always assumed that my fish ate them. I guess now that my tank has been fishless for over a month that they are no longer food and have been growing in ...

  5. Algae Scrubber

As many of you know, I've been slowly upgrading my 50 gal long reef. It's been plagued with algae issues since I inherited it nearly 5 years ago. Last year I added a deep sand bed and upgraded from 2x55W PC lighting to 4x54W T5HO. A couple months ago I added a sump, but no refugium. Due to limited space, I decided to try an Algae turf scrubber. So here's the construction photo's and updates on how it's working.
