  1. Quotes are out!

    I finished up getting all my paperwork done for quotes today. We approached 4 different vendors when it was all said and done with. I also approached Oceans Motions about design feedback given that most of the circulation is going to be done via their four-way pumps. So now we wait.

    We've been keeping ourselves semi occupied by chasing down some power problems we've been having in rooms around the tank room. Kevin's trying to plan how he wants to run and control all the additional ...

  2. Too much light?

    Ever since I upgraded my tank from 2x55W PC lights, to 4x54W T5's my finger leathers, toadstool and various mushrooms and even my Zoanthids have been slowly dwindling! The finger leathers almost never extend polyps anymore and have shriveled up to half their original size, the Toadstool only opens it's polyps at night, and slow retracts them after the lights come on. And my mushrooms are slowly dissappearing! My Zoanthids have great colors, but are not spreading, in fact the colony has been shrinking. ...

  3. Salmon Run 2010

    This past long weekend we packed up our dogs and made the 8 hour car trip from home in Alberta to British Columbia. We went to help out a friend with her cabin build, and timed our visit perfectly to see the salmon run in the Shuswaps on Thanksgiving long weekend.

  4. DIY Auto topoff Ghetto ( but works.)

    OK Since my Tank has been rock curing station for while now I needed a quick fix to handle topoff duties without spending more 10 bucks. So going back in my memory I rememberd we used to use carboys from water drinking machines and take a rubber stopper and drill hole in it to fit a pipe going down to trickle sump. I had carboys alreadyt but no stopper that require an air tight seal. So off to Walmart I went looking for stopper. I happened across this in the camping section.
