Thank you to whomever slaved away to get everything working right again here! Someone shared this with me, and I thought someone else might benefit from it. It's a beautiful video of clams in a greenhouse from Pacific East Aquaculture. This is the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1vlOXksMtY& Anyways since last updated there has been some more progress on Tibet. On December 1st I snapped these shots in the morning with my phone. I later have come to realize ...
I picked up the 40 gallon tank which will be my sump and the coralife pump for my return. I was surprised how big the pump was. It will be tough getting the true union valve to fit. I think I will have to have the hole near the front side, use a elbow and then install the 1.5 true union. It might be easier just to use 1 inch seeing that is what the input to the pump is. I will have to make a decision once the time comes. I debated about buying all of the fittings today(11/29) from bulkreefsupply ...

I have been thinking about the plumbing for a while and decide to use sketchup to get it down on paper. My goal is to have the setup to be as clean as possible. After seen glassreef build I wanted to do a clean build but under the stand(s). After much reading I plan on using the herbie overflow system. The two 1 inch holes will be used as the main drain and the two ¾ inch holes will be the emergency. The Main drain will be tied together into 1.5 inch pvc and a gate valve will be used to control ...
I was wondering if its detrimental to have high alkalinity in my reef tank? My ph is fine @ 8.3 and my calcium is good @ 430ppm. But my alkalinity is @ around 3.6 mEq/l. The reasoning for the high alkalinity is prob due to my inconsistent dosing of ph/alkalinity buffer to keep the ph @ optimal parameters during a past calcium spike. All corals are doing fine except an acan and a blasto that I have. The acan hasn't opened its polyps as much as usual since the alkalinity started going up past 2.8. ...
