  1. The Papua New Guinea National Fisheries Authority response to Eco EZ Inc

The Papua New Guinea National Fisheries Authority (NFA) has ceased the allocation of funds to the U.S. based consultancy firm Eco EZ Inc, which formerly held the contract to carry out the “SEASMART” Program. This decision comes as the contract term between Eco EZ Inc and the PNG NFA neared expiration, and the NFA was not satisfied with Eco EZ Inc’s level of performance.

Funding to Eco EZ Inc was cut short for the last quarter of 2010, which was the last quarter of the contract term. ...

  2. The light rack project

Mark another stage off my list of things to do. The light rack has been assembled and suspended over the tank. I'm going to do a little touch up here and there to make sure no exposed metal will corrode from the salty environment, but I'll have to buy some model paint to do so. Here's how it went...

The first thing I had to do was warm up the garage. It's been pretty cold recently, and I didn't want to work in 35F if I could avoid it. So I fired up this heater and let it warm up ...

  3. The Mithrax are working, eating up the Valonias...

Yes, they have been hungry and stuffing their bellies with Valonias, GHA and apparently some Coraline algae (I had some green Coraline, if that exists, which is disappearing).

Look at this rock, can you see that it has some sections clearly free of Valonias with white rock showing, right beside sections infested with it? They were not like that a few weeks ago... too bad I don't have an exact same picture to compare, but I'm sure this rock had more Valonias on it, and less with purple ...

  4. Wanting an SPS tank, questions inside.

I have a few questions regarding what is best for a SPS only tank.
The tank itself is a 20 gallon octaganol tank, which I am in the middle of resealing, and will be drilling later this month. I plan to have a good skimmer, and some chaeto, and supplementing with two part as opposed to a reactor. Just too costly for me right now, especially on a 20 gallon. It will have about 15lbs of LR in the display and another 15 in the sump, or at least thats the plan. I dont have my rock structure planned ...

  5. Testing 40 extra long

So I am in the beginning stages of starting my next system. I have always been intrigued by trying to simulate a more natural water flow and now I will start testing a different size tank. I got some free glass and made a quick mock up system to see what I might want in the final design.

I have searched online to try to find similar sizes with vortechs running and could not really come up with much so I had to make my own.

The main power will come from a MP10es, which ...
