  1. Covering the overflow box

Back in 2011, I built a black overflow cover for the 400g to avoid nuisance algae growth in that external compartment. Here are a few pictures.

The Apex probes were inserted through that lid, and the caps of the Durso standpipes poke up through individual openings. It worked quite nicely.

  2. Future Tank Build Planning Question

    Hello Guys!!

I am hoping y'all will be able to help me with some preliminary planning for an aquarium and fish room I am trying to plan. We are building a Preschool/Children's Wing at the church I work at. We currently have a 100 gallon aquarium that I have been maintaining for the last four years. I have been told they want a BIG one in the new building. We have had our first meeting with the architects. We don't have any drawings yet but I will need to let them know what type ...
  3. Blood Shrimp

When I added the Golden Dwarf Eels to the 60g cube, I noticed how the Peppermint shrimp were far more shy than ever before, and they were big guys. Since they were tearing up stuff more often than not, that timidness was a perk. Within weeks, I noticed I rarely saw them at all. And another two weeks later, they were gone. No trace of them, and I surmise they were delicious.

  4. Top down images

I had to build some new Top Down Photo Boxes ( http://www.melevsreef.com/node/42 ) this week, so I made a new one for myself as well. Enjoy the results. I should point out that a lot of the colors you're seeing now are far better than a month ago.

  5. Nori time

Here's a shot of the gang devouring half a sheet of nori. I do this daily, but I'm thinking I may need to offer a full sheet instead since the food is gone in less than 2 minutes. I use the MegaVeggieMag to hold it securely to 3/4" thick glass. http://melevsreef.com/catalog/megaveggiemag
