  1. Measuring water's evaporation

Each day for the past week, I've been marking how much water is being used by my reef. I took a piece of blue masking tape and applied it vertically on the acrylic reservoir I made.

Each day around the same time, I drew a line, marked the day and time it was measured.

What I've discovered is that the ATO reservoir holds more ...

  2. Berlin style sump or refugium?

I just got my new Oceanic dual overflow 140 gallon. I have been researching and think I'm going to plumb it with the Herbie method. I got a joke of a wet/dry filter with a built in skimmer that I had had thought of maybe taking the bioballs out of and using as a berlin style sump. Otherwise, I will need to get a new sump. My question is-If im going to run carbon and gfo or biopellets, will I also need to run a refugium? I currently run a fuge on my 75 gallon set up and I have problems with reoccuring ...

  4. Decisions decisions...how about some help?

It’s about time to replace the lighting over my 45gal cube the ballast is starting to go I believe. So my major decision is going to be between MH and LED, my budget is about $550

If I go will MH I will be getting a Sunlight Supply Lumen Max Elite HQI and Lumatek DIMMABLE 250W / 400W Metal Halide Electronic Ballast which I will be running at 250w with a XM 10k plus the 2 t5 actinics I already have. Total cost ~480

If I choose LED I will probably go with a MaxSpect

During the remodeling project, I tried to clean up the old fan but it had shorted out, leaving a dead motor in its wake.

When the 280g was running, the vent was directly over the tank. I felt that was the perfect spot because it would exhaust heat from the ...
